Charis playing in her room and just being cute

Charis is really concentrating - see the tongue sticking out! Figuring out these blocks is hard work.

Is this not the sweetest face!!

Charis with the blanket that her Aunt Bettye, from Alabama, made her. She is "loving" the blankie.

Charis's First Haircut

My first trip to Acacia Hair Salon. I think I want a cute little bob cut today. :)

Our friend Rachel Mark gave Charis her first haircut. She didn't cry but was very solemn throughout the whole thing. I tried to entertain her with books and the blow dryer. It worked and she looks adorable with her new do!

Charis is not quite sure what to think of this haircut.

Charis' surgery day

Praise the Lord, today went well. She had her extra finger removed from her hand and the ear tag and ear sinus repaired. We also had the BAER hearing test before the surgery. They had to sedate her for this test so it was the best time to do it. We received good news! She has completely normal hearing on her right side. On her left side the electrical nerves sending signals to the brain are all working great. This basically means that one day she will have partial (possibly complete) hearing in her left ear. She is deaf on that side now but this is such encouraging news. She is a candidate for other surgery and treatment. You would never know she is deaf on one side by watching her dance. :) Thank you to everyone for praying for her during the surgery.

Charis getting all ready for surgery. It is really early for all this and I think she is wondering why I am not feeding her breakfast.

Bless her heart she has no idea what is coming. She thinks her little gown with Bugs Bunny is so fun!

After surgery in recovery. She is not feeling well and is still waking up.

She just wanted mommy at this point.

On our way home!! She is happy to be leaving the hospital.

She is all smiles even in her droggy state. How precious is that!!

More pics

My friend Jennifer came with Mikaela and her new baby Makana. We had a picture with our girls and the little prince.

October 10, 2010 - Baby Dedication

We had our dedication this past Sunday. As you can tell Charis was ready to get down and crawl around. Our Youth Pastor Curtis prayed over Charis and the entire family. We had the special treat of having Nana and Papa visiting from TX (Debby's parents Gary & Doris Cassady) What a precious time of remembering that Charis is the Lord's and our committment to teach her the things of the Lord as a family.

August 13-15
After Cassady and Methus arrived safely home from Peru, we were finally all together as a family! We were able to spend a few days together hanging out at the pool and bonding with Charis. So much fun!

Cassady lounging at the pool.
Charis is adjusting and doing so well. At first she would not allow us to feed her with a spoon or fork but praise the Lord we are past that now. She is eating and actually enjoying it. :)

Playing Peek-a-boo!

Pretty smile!
Sunday August 22 Charis went to church for the first time. Everyone at Lifepointe was so excited to see her. She stayed with me during the music at the beginning but then we went to nursery for the rest of the service. My thoughts of her staying quietly in my arms for the first few Sundays was only wishful thinking. She is a busy body, always moving and ready to play.

My first time to go to church!

Charis has learned how to make a high pitch noise (otherwise known as screaming). She is very excited about this new found skill. I think she just likes hearing herself.
Talking on the phone

Playing the piano.
When Chris and I were in China we bought the kids shirts. The boys are wearing shirts the say "big brother" and Cassady's says "big sister". Of course Charis's is "little sister". I just had to get a picture of them all wearing them.

Obviously Charis does not want to take pictures right now. This would be her "spicy girl" attitude.

Blowing kisses to daddy behind the camera

Charis saying, "I'm done and need a bottle".
Now she's happy!
Later that day we had visitors! Thomas takes Charis out on the front porch to visit with the girls.

The neighborhood girls are so sweet! They love visiting Charis! (And Thomas doesn't mind all that attention either!)
